10 of the most important SEO design tips

1. Optimise every page on your website

The major search engines are not looking at individual websites and ranking them, they are ranking pages from every website in the world. This means that if your website contains more than one page you should optimise for the specific content that is found on each page.

Optimising each webpage is overlooked by so many websites within Ireland and can be the difference between competing for a highly competitive keyword phrase such as "Irish Hotels" and competing for a much less competitive keyword phrase such as "Hotels in County Galway". After that they can check out the rest of your website that is all about "Irish Hotels".

2. Pick appropriate keyword phrases

This is the single most important thing to do when it comes to optimising your website for search engines. The keywords that your potential customers type into Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask Jeeves are the keywords that your site should be using within the specific areas of your webpage (see below; Optimizing your Page Titles and Optimizing your Content). There are a number of useful keyword research tools available on the web. The most recommended and user-friendly are Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery. Both offer trial versions.

3. Optimizing your Page Titles

All of the major search engines have 100's of different algorithms that compute where your webpage should be listed for different keyword searches. Putting your keywords within the Title description (the blue bar you will see at the top of your screen) of your pages is one of the most important SEO techniques and will help your website climb through the rankings and allow your visitors to remember exactly what your page is all about when they save it to their "favourites".

4. Optimizing your Page Content

It is sometimes very difficult to write content for your website. Not only do you need put the information that you want the visitor to see in front of them in an easy-to-read style, you also have to keep in mind the keywords or keyphrases that your page is targeting so that you can rank better within search engines.

One of the best pieces of advice that I have come across is to write for your visitors and include the keywords and keyphrases as much as makes sense. Read what you written out loud to yourself and a few others. If it sounds stupid... lather, rinse, and repeat.

5. Create an inbound linking strategy

Submitting your site to online directories is a very beneficial way to drive targeted traffic to your website. People will find your listing in a directory and click on the link to go directly to your site.

This not only brings visitors to your website, but it also creates links for search engine "spiders" or "robots" to find your website and index your pages within their results. If your site doesn't have a link pointing to it on the World Wide Web the search engines will never find it and you will never see any traffic from Google or the other big ones.

6. Descriptively labeling your links and images (aka the anchor text)

This technique is both common sense and good practice. Telling your visitors what the link that they are going to click on allows them to know exactly what they are going to be directed to. Saying "click here" is not enough to help them understand what they're going to find once they click through. Be as descriptive as possible with every text and graphical link on your site. The cool thing about writing your anchor text and alt attributes to be descriptive is that you can almost always describe the page you're pointing to by using its main keyword phrase which is another one of those many factors search engines that into account when it comes to ranking your web pages.

7. Make sure your site is spider-friendly

Your website may look fantastic. You and your web designer may be talented graphic designers that can make Flash and _Javascript dazzle your visitors with a show that would put RiverDance to shame. However, if your website contains Flash and _Javascript it's important to know that search engine spiders can't read this code (or appreciate the effort you put into the design). The way around this is to provide navigation alternatives to allow the spiders crawl deep within your website and index the web pages within their results.

8. Create Fresh Content

When you are optimizing your website properly you will see a trend. If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it.
Search engines do tend to like websites that create fresh content regardless of the format. If they know any given site is adding new articles on a frequent basis, they will come around often to index it.

Blogs and forums are effective and easy ways of adding new information to your site on a regular basis.

However, if your only purpose of setting up a blog or a forum is for better search engine rankings then there really is no point in doing it. Only add a forum if it contributes something beneficial to your website and if you have the traffic to make it interactive enough for visitors to return to it. And, only add a blog if you have something of interest to say on a regular basis.

9. Do not think that you can trick Search Engines

As noted before, "If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it".
If you try to trick the search engines by hiding keyword phrases in your pages by making the text colour the same as the background colour, hiding keyword phrases in tiny font, joining link farms, or any other sneaky practice your sites will be removed from the search engines and it will take you a long time to get back in (and you will also have to spend more time cleaning up your website before they will accept you).

10. Offer something unique

If your website offers something that is unique and interesting to your target market and it is properly optimized (by applying all of the techniques that are listed above) you will not only rank well within the major search engines, you will also get the added benefit of people linking to your website in forums, blogs, and through other websites which will send your site more visitors and create more inbound links which will help it rank higher.

6 Steps to picking profitable adsense keywords

Knowing how to find the best keywords for use in your Adsense ads is not a straightforward process. Finding and implementing high profit, low competition keywords in your ads really is the trick for making Adsense payoff big.The following process should yield profitable, low competition keywords for your Adsense ads. This process is not perfect, but when you analyze it and try it for yourself, you can see that it makes sense. Adsense that is.

Step 1 Research some keywords for your niche that have a high CPC value. To do this, first find your keywords using the Google Adwords keyword tool or another tool that will give you niche specific lists of keywords. Save those keywords into a spreadsheet program as a csv file. Copy and paste those keywords into Google's Traffic Estimator (you will need an Adwords account). The traffic estimator will give you the estimated clicks per day and the average cost per click (CPC) for each keyword. Copy and paste this information back into your spreadsheet file for later reference.

Step 2 Multiply the average CPC by 30% to get an estimate of your maximum earnings per click. The higher the average CPC, the more likely the CPC for the 2nd - 8th positions are high as well. You want this higher average CPC to start because if the CPC starts to drop off significantly after the 3rd position, your chance of getting high click earnings as an Adsense publisher will be diminished.

Step 3 Use any one of many tools available on the internet for helping to estimate the 1st - 8th position CPC values. These tools will estimate the CPCs for each position and allow you to see how much the CPCs drop off after the first position. This dramatically helps your analysis for picking the most profitable keywords. If the CPC values stay close to the each other and to the value of the first position, then you will more than likely have a profitable keyword.

Step 4 Now determine which Adsense ads occupy which positions. You can do this by searching on Google for your keyword and looking to see which Adsense ads are generated in the search results and in which order they are. Another way to estimate this is to use the Adwords Accelerator tool. It has a feature whereby Adwords ads are dynamically displayed for a given keyword you input into the tool to check. If the Adwords advertiser has used "Adwords for Content" in his advertising, these ads will be the Adsense ads someone else is displaying on their website.

Step 5 Compare the ads you found in step 4 to the results of using a keyword check function tool (available on the internet). If the advertisers you find by doing this closely match those you found in step 4, you will more than likely have a profitable keyword. If the advertisers are not he same, then the advertiser is possibly not using the "Adwords for Content" mode of advertising in his campaigns. This means that the keyword may not be the basis for the Adsense ads and may not be profitable.

Step 6 Now you must get the traffic. If you decide to get traffic using the Adwords approach, then just use the keywords in your Adsense ads that scored well from the above evaluation. Then, use lower cost per click keywords in your Adwords ads. The difference between the earnings from the click you get on your Adsense word from the cost of the click you pay on your Adwords word will be your profit. If you are planning to use search engine optimization techniques to get traffic to the website where your ads are, make sure the keywords you choose have the highest KEI possible. KEI is the ratio of the number of searches for a keyword to the number of competing sites having the keyword. The combination of a high KEI and a high score from the above evaluation will yield the best profit results.

10 Important Tips to Play with Google Adsense

  1. Place the Adsense ads at the top central position of your web page directly beneath your header banner or on the top left position . These are the most read areas of a page due to human's reading habit. Embedding the ad in an article is also an effective technique to increase the click through rate.
  2. Do not accept the default settings of Adsense ads . Remove the border on adsense so it does not look like an ad and make sure the background color of the ad matches the background color of your web site. Match the link color of the ad to the same color as you use for your main body text as well. This will reduce the chance that visitors unconsciously reject them as they do to normal online advertisements.
  3. A search box on every page gives you another chance for earning Adsense income.
  4. Add your site to relevant directories and get your site indexed in search engines to build link popularity.
  5. Add fresh content to your site regularly or write your own articles and submit them to article directories to increase your site traffic.
  6. Your website must have useful contents to keep visitors stay longer and read through more pages so that the chance of earning more Adsense income increases.
  7. Try to place images near the Google ads to draw visitors' attention towards those ads.
  8. If the ads being generated by Google's Adsense are not relevant to your website, visitors will not click on them. You may do some keyword optimization on your web pages by tweaking the text on the title tag, h1 heading, filename and increasing the number of occurrences of the keywords in the text of the web page.
  9. If you have some web pages having a lot of traffic but with low-paying keywords, you may think of ways to grab the attention of the your visitors there and to redirect your visitors to your other higher earning pages . By doing so, you are turning cheap links into real dollars.
  10. Never cheat Google by clicking on the ads yourself or ask your visitors to click on them or you will risk being thrown out of the program totally by Google.

Increasing the Average AdSense Price Per Click

Increasing the average price per click you receive from AdSense is the other strategy for increasing your overall AdSense earnings. You can do this by:
  • Carefully targeting your content,
  • and/or Filtering out and avoiding low-paying ads

Content targeting isn't just about creating relevant, unique content. It's also making sure that that content is written to target the higher-paying keywords associated with a given topic. This means:
  • Figuring out which keyword variations for that topic pay more. Often the more specialized variations and phrases pay more than the "generic" terms.
  • Ensuring that the keyword density of the content favors the higher-paying keyword variations. See this page for an example of well-targeted ads due to appropriate keyword density.

And to reduce the occurrence of lower-paying ads, consider these two strategies:

  • Use AdSense's competitive filter mechanism to screen out the ads that you don't want.
  • Show fewer ads on a page. The fewer ads you show, the more the higher-paying ads get displayed and clicked.

Many publishers also report that their earnings increase if they remove ads completely from pages with few or no clicks. Again, the "less is more" strategy favors the higher-paying ads.

Adsense - 7 keys to empire?

There's a lot of buzz around about how you can make a quick and easy fortune using this AdSense course or that tool or this book.

And they show you their incomes from AdSense too (though not necessarily THIS month). Now, is it just me or is something a little odd in all this?

Say, I'm making $5000 - no make that $15,276 a month from AdSense on my sites. And now I'm going to sell all my secrets on how to do that for $67 or $97 or whatever.

So what happened, did I get all bored with my filthy riches and decide to become a philanthropist and sell stuff that makes me 15K a month for a pittance? Or is it something else?

Am I saying it's impossible? Certainly not. I know people who make that more.

But a little reality. Those people don't have 5 or 6 or 50 sites. They have maybe 500 or 3000 or more. Few sites make 20 or more a day. Very few. Average income is probably less than a dollar a day. So with 500 sites at a dollar a day, you've got your 15K a month.

Now the domain names cost you maybe $3500 to $4500. Then you need hosting and somehow you've got to build the sites and get traffic to them. There are excellent tools but the ones that will let you do this kind of thing in a reasonably short time are also very (very) expensive.

And you are continually dealing with sites that don't get indexed or get de-indexed or even get banned. Traffic today, gone tomorrow. Plus, if you're not real careful with those tools you may get an unpleasant letter from Google about a DMCA copyright infringement which could cost you your AdSense account.

You can make money, you can build an empire. But it isn't easy or quick no matter what you hear. And it really isn't a business.

It's not a long run proposition, it's not stable. You need to keep creating more sites as older ones fail - or you need to be smart and use those AdSense revenues to build an enduring business. You put up with this down to here, so here are the real 7 "secret" keys to AdSense.

1. The best performing AdSense type is the large rectangle.
This has been tested over and over.

2. The best colors are blue for the link - surfers know that blue means click me.
And darkish almost black and grey for the text and url. No borders. The same background as your page. Will it merge into your content? No, that's bogus. There are maybe 4 surfers in this galaxy who can't tell a Google ad when they see one. They are not going to believe it's part of the text. Wake up, OK?

3. Another format which is being reported to more or less work is the full wide banner type layout with text ads and images directly above the links. Try it and see if it works for you. Maybe it's a fad.

4. Keywords and related content are critical if you want targeted ads. If you want high paying clicks you need to target the costly keywords AND have content that supports the keywords.

5. You need traffic interested in the ads. Which means your traffic generation techniques have to be targeted not scattershot. You might hear that 1% or 1.5% clickthrough rate is OK and 3% is good. Nonsense. Really successful people get CTRs that are often well above 30%. Even with modest efforts you should be getting an average 6 to 15% CTR (per ad impression, not pages).

6. You have to track what you're doing and you have to test variations in ad layout, placement, color and related content to optimize your income. No one can tell you how to do it except the traffic coming to your site. If you don't test and track, you're flying blind.

7. You need to keep building new sites.

You are now a member of the AdSense Illuminati. Quite possibly you already knew all that. So why are you looking for something else? Really. This is all you need to start doing it.

Probably any course or book can help you if that's what it takes to get you moving and doing. Ultimately, no one can really show you exactly how to do it. You're going to have to learn the ropes and put in the time.

Like everything in life - the greatest traffic generator, the ultimate course or the super MLM opportunity, if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. There's no magic bullet, no ultimate secret to buy. There's no easy, painless, work free, certain road to riches (except, maybe, inheriting it and that can be very hard on the heirs).

Whatever you do on the net, do it wide awake and with your brain actually functioning. The final un-numbered key is that a technique, a shortcut, an idea that will make what you do easier, faster, or more profitable - one single tiny thing - is worth more than any book or course costs. One useable idea and you've gotten a great deal. If you learned something you didn't know or had forgotten, then it's worth much more than you paid. There may not be any magic solution out there, but there are useful concepts, techniques and ideas. You just have to see them for what they are, and then get busy and really use them.

How To Target Higher Paying Keywords

Different keywords pay different amounts. Other things being equal a website based around debt consolidation will generate more revenue per Adsense click than a website based around football cards. This is why an industry built around selling high paying keyword lists to Adsense publishers has become so profitable.
But it’s more complicated than this as different keywords in different niche markets also pay different amounts. If your website is not targeting the “right” (as in profitable) keywords you will probably be earning less money per Adsense click than you should be.
For example – if you increase your average CPC (cost per click) from $0.20 to $0.30 you will increase your revenue by 33%. There are two ways of doing this on your already existing website and the best tool for doing the research is Keyword Country.

1. Better target your existing webpages:

Which words are you using in your Title Tag, Meta Tags, H1 - H3 Header Tags and inside the body of your content? Google's content matching technology generates ads related to the meaning of the words on your page. If the high paying keywords for that page topic aren't in those 4 hotspots I just listed the quality (relevancy) and CPC of your ads will be lower than if they were. Google wants to match their advertiser ads to the pages which are going to offer the greatest return otherwise their whole system collapses.
This means that you want to make sure the high paying keywords are included in your hot spots. If I use UnderstandingAdsense.com as an example I logged into Keyword Country with the intention of finding the highest paying keywords for the Adsense market. I typed in Adsense and was presented with a list. "Making Money With Adsense" has the highest average CPC of $0.73 so when I've finished building the site I will optimize the home page and several other pages for that keyword so as to generate the most relevant and high paying ads possible. I will do this by including that keyword phrase (and related ones like "make money with Adsense") into the four places listed above.

2. Add additional content to your website which targets related high paying keywords:

The most important word here is related. Don’t add content pages about Viagra to your website which is themed around motorcycles just because the average CPC for Viagra is very high. Instead do one of these two things:

a. Type your primary keyword,
in this example, "motorcycle" into Keyword Country, wait for the results to appear and then click on CPC. This will arrange all the related keywords by their CPC value bringing the most profitable to the top. I did this and found that -
“Motorcycle Insurance In Michigan” has an average CPC of $10.25“Motorcycle Insurance” has an average CPC of $4.28“Motorcycle Loan” has an average CPC of $3.34
These are very high average CPCs for which you could develop new content. These content pages would generate higher cost per click Adsense ads from your visitors.

b. Your second option is to type in keywords which are related to your principal topic.

Continuing with the motorcycle theme you could type in Harley-Davidson a popular manufacturer of motorcycles. The results show that “Harley Davidson Boots” has an average CPC of $0.84. You could build a page today pre-selling Harley Davidson Boots and generate a nice Adsense stream from that page. Another extension would be the keyword “chopper”, a popular type of motorcycle enhanced by the big shows of the last few years. On Keyword Country a search for chopper brings up related keywords like West Coast Choppers, a famous chopper builder which has an average CPC of $0.95 – again a page or several pages around this topic would be a nice addition to a motorcycle based website.
Whatever your topic, virtually every website can incorporate new high paying content. So before you try and build a website in a new niche check that the website(s) that you’ve already put the groundwork into (link building and seo) can’t be better optimized for higher paying keywords and / or have additional high adsense paying content added to it. There will be at least five new pages of content that you could add to your existing website today that would create higher paying average clicks than what you are already generating.
The large majority of Adsense Publishers are still not taking advantage of these tools and are still working in the dark so to speak - unsystematically adding content, optimizing their pages and building new niche websites with no fore-knowledge of the value of a particular topic nor its potential profitability. I guarantee that if you test Keyword County for just a day you won’t want to unsubscribe - it makes our job of making money with Adsense that much easier.
They also have a free “sneak peak” tool whereby you enter your target keywords and it will give you the most high paying keywords related to that phrase. If you follow this link and click on the “try now” button in the top right you can test the three different parts of the application yourself.

How To Build An Adsense Empire

As soon as you've mastered Adsense on one site the natural thing to do is build another. Another becomes another and so forth and within about a year or two you can have your own empire generating a massive monthly income.
The hard thing about succeeding online is the learning curve. You've got to put in a good 6 months to a year absorbing everything before you start to come out the other side.
Money is harder to find in this time but once you're afloat applying what you've learnt to many different markets is a doddle and you make more than enough money to compensate for the harder times before.
With Adsense based websites there's no point building wide until you have mastered the fundamentals.
For an Adsense site this includes - website building, understanding Adsense, search engine optimization and link building. A good grasp of affiliate programs will also help you supplement your Adsense income and knowing how to navigate your way around Adwords will allow you to test your templates and integration before finalising a particular model.
Once you've mastered these things then this is the forumla for Adsense Empire Building:

1. Choose a Niche - A niche is a self-contained market which focuses around a particular question or type of product. An understanding of the internet, the different markets and the tools available to assist your research is critical.

2. Working out the keyword pyramid for that niche - every niche has a keyword pyramid which is made up of the words people use to find things related to that niche. At the top is the most commonly used search term (Adsense would be Adsense), and at the bottom, the multitude of variations, for example - "which adsense ad color generates the most clicks" To maximize your free search engine traffic, your content will want to cover as much of this pyramiid as possible.

3. Planning the website - Now you've chosen your niche and have sketched the content that will be neccessary to meet it you'll then need to create this content, be it your own or from a third party and also work out how to integrate Adsense into it.

4. Build the website - Putting the bricks and mortar together - if you're not already using XSitePro you should be!

5. Get some traffic to the website - Basic directory submissions, preliminary reciprocal links, using Adwords, forum and blog postings will all start the trickle of traffic to your website. This will allow you to:

6. Optimize your Adsense - by testing your Adsense Format, Placement, Colors etc on your traffic you'll be able to work out which combination(s) they are most responsive to. The aim is to reach the optimum for that website so that it can be left pretty much on auto-pilot.

7. Focus on getting more traffic - This is the real task behind your project and will require link building and search engine optimization in all of it's variations.

8. Monitoring and Maintenance - Keep an eye on your Adsense reports and optimize if you still feel there is room for improvement, plus have some type of ongoing but easy to manage link building strategy in place so that your website keeps developing in the eyes of the search engines.

9. Repeating the process - that's one site down, onto the next.
I'm in the process of doing a lot of research into Adsense Empire Building so there will be lots of new material appearing on the site in the coming months.

Maximize your adsense earnings top 7

1- Boost Traffic

Traffic is the number one in the list. No visitors mean your adsense ads has less chance to get noticed. The more visitors to your site, the higher chance your google ads would be shown. Previous article, I have shared my experience in boosting your traffic. Click here to learn how to boost your site traffic.

2- Have unique and quality content

By having unique and quality content, you would increase your readership level. And if they find it interesting, they would tend to look for more info relating to the topics and therefore more likely to click on the cotextual ads.

3- Make Use of AdsLink

AdsLink resembles to your navigational link. If you place them in a correct spot i.e. in the spot where your site navigation is, the chance of getting noticed by visitors is higher and so is your return on investment. You may refer to adsense blog on links units here.AdsLink has introduced after Ads for Content. AdsLink will displays up to 5 links per sections

4- Ads Placement

No point having a ads that can’t be seen by visitors. Hence, the placment of your ads can have a great impact on your Click To Ratio (CTR). Make the ads appear on top where visitors do not need to scroll anywhere before they could see the ads. Furthermore, make use of the heatmap that Google Adsense provided to help you with the placment. It does help!

5- Use Channel to track your ads

I find Channel is the most practical way to track down your most effective ads placement. With the current state of adsense, Google has allowed up to 200 Channels, hence you could almost track every single ads placement on your site.

6- Make use of images

Put up an images nicely near by the ads could increase your Click To Ratio (CTR) of that particular page. Remember to change the images randomly and often so that it looks as if the ads showing is fresh and new.

7- high paying keywrods

No doubt, keywords play a very important role in your overal payout. Imagine if you are getting a 3 cents a click, how many clicks would you need to make a 30US$??? That would be 1000 clicks!!! For starters, getting 50 clicks a day could be a hard job, not to mention 1000 clicks a day.
So what kind of keywords would yield the most? Yes, that’s the question. Usually, the keywords that related to lawyers, electronic stuff, medical fields are among the high paying keywords. If you have an adwords account, it is pretty easy to find out particular keywords highest bids. The same hold true for overture account.

Webhosting Business - Online Gold Rush

Web hosting is an extremely competitive market, and for good reason. There are simply hundreds of thousands of web sites on the internet today, and each of these needs a web host. In addition, countless thousands of new web sites pop up each and every week. All of these web sites need to be hosted, which creates a simply massive market of web hosting companies.
That being said, since it is important to understand how competitive the market is thanks to thousands of different web hosting companies on the internet, there are a lot of ways to make money via web hosting. However, making any money via a web hosting company first involves finding clients. Finding clients can initially be difficult for web hosting companies, but by knowing the right web sites to visit and right places to advertise, web hosting companies can find potential clients.

There are many forums and web sites that web host owners can visit to advertise their web sites and packages. Web site owners looking for hosting will visit these forums and sites and can choose your package for their own hosting needs. This creates an easy way to find clients. In addition, many web hosting companies advertise at various online and offline sources, such as computer web sites and PC magazines, in order to attempt to draw the attention of people looking for web hosting or possibly to switch from their current web hosts due to a better deal.
Once the clients are found, the money can then begin to be earned. Web hosts charge a monthly fee in return for a specified amount of disk space and bandwidth. Every month money is generated from clients who are allowed to use the disk space to host their files and are also allowed to have a certain amount of page visits and downloads until their bandwidth limit has been reached. Also, other incentives can be offered such as unlimited add-on domains, which is useful for web site owners which own different domains and different web sites on those domains.

The amount of money earned depends on the amount of clients and the form of hosting that the web host itself is using. Some web hosts use reseller accounts offered by other hosts, allowing them to essentially sell web hosting packages for the other host rather than for themselves. They pay a certain fee every month and are allotted a certain disk space and bandwidth amount which they can in turn sell for profit.

Other web hosts purchase dedicated servers. Purchasing a dedicated server allows the host to use that server solely for his own web hosting sales as compared to resale opportunities. These servers contain a certain hard drive size and have a bandwidth cap on them, which is always higher than reseller accounts, and allows for the web host to sell that space to its clients.
Another way web hosts can make money is by making it so that certain ad spaces have to be used on their client’s web sites. Many web hosts require their clients to set aside a certain spot and put a code there for an ad which the web host then provides. The web host shows the ad and in turn receives advertising profits from whatever company wishes to place the ad throughout the web hosts client base.

As can be seen, the web hosting business is fairly simple. It is not a complex process, but simply involves a web host selling a certain amount of space and bandwidth for a specified price. The packages and prices vary from host to host, but the operations are the same across the board. Web hosting can be a very lucrative business when a proper client base can be established and when the web host can keep these clients by offering good hosting packages.
