Why I Cannot Find My Website On the Search Engines?

Many people have asked: “Why I cannot find my website on the search engines?”

Just because you created a website doesn't mean visitors will find you easily. A good website design plan should go together with a good website marketing plan. Just a website alone is not enough if you want prospect clients to find you through the Internet.

Creating a website for your business can sometimes be a good idea. You can think of it as a digital brochure that will always be available to view, a method of publicity that can reach to customers worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is also a great way to keep customers in constant communication and well informed of your business.

Creating a website should be done carefully and well planned in order to make it successful.

Here are some of my recommendations to make your website more successful.

1. A website should give the main idea of what the business does in the home page and as clear as possible.

2. The Contact Information of the business should be accessible from any page within the website.

3. I have heard that you have just a few seconds to get the visitors attention when they visit a website. That is why I do not recommend flash animated introductions (unless you and your website designer can decide to use them after carefully thinking about it).

4. If you hire someone to develop your website, ask them about any website marketing plan they offer. I recommend that you work with a web designer that has at least basic knowledge about website marketing and search engine optimization techniques. A website should be designed thinking about a marketing plan from the beginning.

5. The website should be “search engine friendly”. Search engines have some guidelines that are recommended. Following these guidelines will help search engines find, index and rank your site . It may be difficult to implement a marketing plan in the future if the website was not properly designed and according to the search engine guidelines.

6. Unless you are a musician or have an specific need, I do not recommend using sounds or music in your site. It may bother the visitor and it can also slow down your site's performance.

These are just some of many recommendations. A great way to obtain good results when creating a website is to take enough time to plan it properly according to your main objectives.

Is IX Web Hosting Any Good?

So the question we're asking; is IX web-hosting any good? Well, just like you I am skeptical about buying new products online. Even if that product is web hosting, I don't like to waste my time or my. I like to do a lot of research before I pull out my credit card, I like to look for five things. Price? Speed? Storage? Reviews? Credibility?

Price: Simply put, how much does the product cost; IX web hosting is one of (if not the) cheapest hosting companies around. IX have quality hosting packages starting at $3.95us, that’s just incredible compared to other companies.

Storage: For the cheapest hosting package you’re offered a massive 300gb’s of data storage, now; we all know that, that is a lot!

Reviews: I do general Google searches for reviews of a web site hosting companies before I purchase their product. We’ll after doing such searches for IX web hosting, I am met with hundreds of happy reviews. So this is exactly what I’m looking for in a web hosting company.

Credibility: A Company’s credibility is extremely important, you don’t want to waste or even lose your precious money. IX web hosting has great credibility, so you don’t have to worry.

Speed: How fast is the hosting? Basically I ask around for people to provide me with links to web sites that are currently hosted by the company. So, as far as I’m concerned, my money and time is well worth IX web hosting. I bet you won’t be able to find a better web site hosting company out there. But if you do; I advice you buy their product.

These sites are useful:

Why Adsense Is The Fastest Way To Make Money Online

There is hardly any argument over the fact that the Google Adsense program is a very fast way to start to make money online. In fact there are those who would say that it is in fact the fastest.

There are a number of reasons why this is true. If for instance you already have a site that is up and running and would wish to start making money. Most affiliate programs would require some very serious and specific marketing work on your side to generate traffic. Once sufficient traffic has been generated, you would then need to wait and see if you can turn any of that targeted traffic into actual sales. The truth is that the whole process would take a long time of painstakingly hard work for you to be able to start generating any revenue.

The Google Adsense program is different in that one does not need too much traffic and neither do you need to sell to make money. This is by far the most attractive aspect about the Adsense program.

Actually all you need is for some of your current visitors to click on your Adsense ads and you would immediately start to make money. The amazing thing is that you can even easily increase on your earnings without a significant increase in traffic by simply targeting high-paying Adsense ads. The way to do this is to use keyword phrases that have a high value placed on them as a result of bids placed by advertisers.

This is not too difficult to accomplish and is further proof that Adsense is a pretty fast way to make money online.

How To Effortlessly Make Money Online Using Adsense

The way to effortlessly make money using the popular Google Adsense affiliate program is to find high paying Adsense keywords, create niche websites or blogs based on keywords that you have carefully selected based on your ability to be able to generate quality content that focuses on them. It is really as simple as that.

The reason why so many people struggle with Adsense and do not seem to be able to make more than a few cents at a time is because they insist on creating sites without first carefully investigating and researching the highest paying Adsense keyword phrases. The results are that even if they are able to generate reasonable traffic and clicks, they hardly have anything to show for their efforts at the end of the day.

Remember that even a topic you are deeply interested in will have its’ highest paying keywords. Many times you will find that the very content lying on your site currently and paying something like 1 cent per click can earn you $2 per click or more by simply changing a few keyword phrases here and there.

The value of Adsense keywords is so important that it cannot be taken for granted. For instance 20 clicks a day paying 1 cent will earn you 20 cents a day and $6 per month. Yet the same 20 clicks paying an average of $2 per click will give you $40 a day and a whopping $1,200 per month. See the huge difference!!

The problem is that too many people try to make money with Adsense without understanding this simple calculation.

Make Adsense and Commission Junction Work Together For You

Optimizing a website for Google Adsense can be difficult and many factors will influence the amount of Adsense revenue your site will generate. Some site owners turn to SEO optimization companies for help, while others do it on their own. Search engine optimization and Adsense revenue optimization are two different things but they work together. The more traffic you get the more you should make from Google Adsense, right? But what happens when you also have a well paying Commission Junction advertiser?

Extra graphics and extra ads take away from Google Adsense. The reader’s focus can be distracted. But a Commission Junction advertiser fits the theme of your website and promises to pay well. Where do you place the ad, and what kind of ad do you use? Will your Adsense revenue go down? Will your CJ revenue offset the Adsense loss?

I’ve been working with web sites since the graphical Internet first started back in 1993. I certainly don’t have all the answers or I would be a millionaire by now, which I am not. But 14 years of trial and error taught me what to do and what I should not do. I’ll give you some examples and hopefully you can incorporate some of them. Your Adsense revenue and your Commission Junction revenue should both increase.

Everyone says your best click-through rate is above the fold, or the part that visitors see first on your site. Have you ever considered making the part above the fold just a little wider? Obviously you don’t want to make it so your screen is wider than the browser window, otherwise it looks bad and people will not scroll left and right. The answer is to use a button that will push the content for you. Here is a help button example: http://allvoipsearch.com When that area opens, as seen in my example, you have the visitor’s full, undivided attention. Since it against the Google Adsense TOS (terms of service) to put Adsense ads in that area, try putting your Commission Junctions text links in that area. You can use button ads, text links, and HTML. I use a help button to open the side band, but you can use a different graphic or a text link. I guarantee it will not take away from your Adsense revenue, and will not overload your pages by trying to cram too much above the fold. Make sure you open the side bar links in a new window.

Another idea to boost your Adsense revenue is retention. The longer the visitor stays the more your website will produce. This is also referred to as the ‘bounce rate’ or how ‘sticky’ your site is. I discovered that people will interact with web sites if you make it easy for them. Free things also make your site sticky. I have a widget that makes it easy for people to send me a text message about my articles. I can put it anywhere including Facebook, MySpace, eBay and Craigslist. Of course I use it on my own web sites. Actually I can use it here, just like I do in my email: http://www.jaxtr.com/allvoipsearch

You can see a full-sized widget here: http://pc-calls.com No matter how you do it the more visitor interaction you have the more your visitors will see your revenue generators. Whether they see Google ads or Commission Junction ads is entirely up to you. What I discovered is that my widget does not take away from my Adsense focus. You can test the theory by using a text link or a click-to-call button instead of the full sized widget. Monitor your Adsense revenue for a week or two under both conditions.

An additional benefit is free text messages from your web site is that people will send you new ideas that help you write more content. Bloggers get input from a comment form attached to every blog article. Static pages or content management systems usually generate email comments. I don’t know about you but I don’t need any more email, and my filters trap some comments. I like the text messages and voicemail.

Essential Secrets Of Making Big Money With Adsense - Do It Right

Its no big secret that some folks are making some significant money in Google's AdSense program. Experienced website publishers are making $100 to $1000 per day and some even more. In the AdSense program, website owners publish information folks are interested in, Google generates ads which match the topics and content of the pages published, and if readers find the ads interesting, they click on them and the publisher is paid for the interested readers he sends to the advertiser.

In spite of what you read, it is not the quick way to buckets of easy money. In my experience, when people tell you they have some special secret to for making fast easy money they are always trying to sell you something. More often than not, the product for sale is usually worthless information. I am selling nothing, so I will be frank and honest and tell you the honest and real truth. Yes, AdSense is truly a great opportunity, especially if you own an already popular website.

On the other hand, the days of throwing up a low quality web site made of material copied (often illegally) from other sites and making easy money are gone. What few of these junky MFA (Made For AdSense) arbitrage sites that remain are under attack from Google. Advertisers find these sites undesirable places to put their ads. Google does not like their business model (nor the fact that they make advertisers unhappy), and is actively seeking to find such low quality sites and remove them from the AdSense program. The minimum acceptable quality bar for MFA sites keeps being raised all the time, so why build a junk site and constantly have to fight to keep it above the minimum standards?

The reliable way to make money on AdSense is to create high quality pages of unique information that are of value and interest to readers. Create a website which is the proverbial “better mousetrap” and in time you will generate the necessary interest, traffic and ad revenue. Publishing a website is much like publishing paper and ink magazine or newspaper – in that readers want a quality publication that is interesting and entertaining. Like the older media forms, advertisers like high quality attractive publications – and they don’t like slapped together junk that no one finds interesting or useful. If you are going to build up a business this way, its worth your effort to take your time and do it right. Never forget that in the end, the essence of your AdSense business is selling advertising space and your publication must be a place where your advertisers want to put their ads.

Here are some of my essential secrets for starting and operating a successful web based business using AdSense:

1. Don’t bother to chase high paying keywords – it’s a waste of time. More than 100,000 folks have already bought the e-books and other materials that say this is the way to go, and its all bogus information. The payment per click numbers presented are the maximum you might be paid, but there is nothing that requires Google to pay you that amount. If Google decides your site is of a low quality, and the sales leads you generate are of a poor quality as well, instead of paying you $10 a click for asbestos cancer clicks, they can pay you 2 cents – its called smart pricing and is done all the time. In addition, there are already thousands of sites competing for these high dollar keywords – and you will be fighting thousands of others who already have a head start on you to get to the top of the heap. Instead, select a topic that has less competition and still has plenty of advertisers wanting to sell goods related to that topic. If possible, it is best to select a topic you know about and are interested in yourself, as you may be writing quite a bit about it while building your site.

2. Research and choose your website topic carefully. Some topics just don't lend themselves well to profitable ads. A Brittany Spears or Paris Hilton site may attract traffic, but you probably wont have good advertising to go with the topic and the traffic probably will not be folks who are interested in what advertising may be on your page. Ask yourself what are companies advertising out there? Not so much on TV, but in smaller media – yellow pages, newsletters, magazines, etc. These are your competition. There are literally hundreds of small niche hobby and special interest magazines – consider their topics as potential areas of interest for a web site. Take a look and see what kind of advertisers they have.

The goal is to pick a topic where people are actively looking to purchase things and the ads become just as important as your content, so they're clicking around all over the place to find what they're looking for. If you've got a site providing information for people who are looking to buy something, they're much more likely to click your ads. Pick a topic where people are looking to buy goods and services, not hobby chat, humor, celebrities or other less profitable topics. Anything can make money but when people are in a buying mood those ads are as good as gold and your topic can make all the difference.

The motivation of visitors coming to your site really matters quite a bit. If someone is looking for a recipe they will find it and continue on. If your reader is looking for information on the latest misadventures of Lindsay Lohan or some other celebrity, they will also find it and move on. On the other hand, if someone is looking for a information on hotels and places to visit in a certain city, then they are more of the mindset that they will look at your ads and visit the advertisers with the intention to pull out a credit card and make a reservation or purchase. This type of mindset in your visitors is good for you as well as the advertiser.

3. Focus on building a high quality site. Map out a strategy for what you will have and the site you intend to build. Your content matters to your readers! Sites that have a couple hundred words of meaningless drivel on every page are shallow and of little interest. Those sites that rely on a shallow rather than deep content model are more vulnerable to competition than more authoritative deeper sites are. Google knows that the web is overloaded with sites built of pages that are shallow, rather than deep, and on the Google search side, they know the difference. Sites that are designed purely to benefit the publisher aren't likely to prosper indefinitely. What useful information will your website provide to your visitor? Sites with shallow content are also not likely to attract repeat users, which means they're throwing away revenue opportunities from return visits.

4. For AdSense to work you need traffic, and a boatload of it. If your site cannot generate traffic, you wont be able to make much of a profit. AdSense is all about selling interested traffic to the advertiser – and if you don’t have much traffic, you don’t have much to sell. It is important to concentrate first on a positive, quality user experience for your readers. Good content generates interest and clicks, professionalism and quality generates clicks, relevance generates clicks: all these are the things you need to be successful. Well organized and laid out sites, with good honest SEO will bring the right kind of traffic. Building a quality site is like building a building: brick by brick it goes together to form the intended finished product. In time you will get the bookmarks, the good incoming links, the high positions in the search engines and the traffic that all those things bring. Once you have that traffic coming to your website, if your website is well optimized with AdSense, then the money flows.

The KEY to increase your revenue in AdSense

We already know how the income from AdSense is generated. That is, by getting clicks on the Google adverts placed on your sites/blogs, but what most people don`t know is why some adverts produce low pay (no matter how many times clicked), and some produce high pay.

Wait,

Let me come at you through this way. You remember Google AdWords? If yes, then you would know that to have such ads placed on the internet, you would have to bid for some certain keywords related to the information/product you are posting/promoting/selling on Google. Some keywords are more expensive than others as they are searched more times by internet users.

Now,

Back to AdSense. By now you should have known the KEY to increase your revenue in AdSense; KEYWORDS. Keywords with low bid price in AdWords will produce low pay in AdSense while, those with higher bid price will produce higher in AdSense.

Now all you have to do is incoporate these high paying keywords into the articles/information or whatever is on your blog/site and they will attract those ads which will generate high pay when clicked. Thats all. This is just the simple trick been used by all those who earn high from the AdSense program.

So go ahead and find these high paying keywords and use them.

The Anatomy of a Hot Google AdWords Ad

A Google AdWords Ad has four lines:

Line 1: Keyword-rich benefit headline

Before we talk about how to write a great Google Ad, let's just go back to basics and get inside the head of someone who is using the Google Search Engine.

Picture this ... your website visitor is interested in finding something on the Internet so they type some keywords into the search engine. Up comes a search engine results page with a list of websites that matched their search terms.

Now, before we go any further let's look inside the mind of the website visitor.

They have a problem or need.

They think "Aha, I'll go and find out the answer to that on the net."

They point their browser to Google.com and they think, 'Mmmm ... what should I type in the search box?'

Chances are, the keywords they type in are the actual item or items they're looking for. So - let's say they were looking for something to fix their eczema problem.

What do they type into the search engine?

Maybe they type "eczema treatment". They press submit and they wait for the search results.

The search results come up and the website visitor scans the listing of results and while she's doing that, she thinks to herself, 'Mmm... eczema treatment, eczema treatment, eczema treatment.

Where can I find eczema treatment?'

So what is the best keyword or keywords to put in the headline of your Google Ad?

Yes, you got it - "eczema treatment". The reason why this is so powerful is because it's flagging down your reader. The headline is voicing what they are thinking.

For instance:

Eczema Treatment
Eczema Fixed Now
Eczema gone in 2 days!

Here's another tip - capitalize the first letter of each word in the headline.

"Eczema cured in days" vs "Eczema Cured In Days"

See the difference?

Capitalizing the first letter of each word attracts more attention to the letters within the headline (which is obviously very important when you're competing with a whole bunch of other ads as well as organic search engine listings).

Great! So you have a strong headline. The next information to include is as many action words as possible, to drive them to your website.

Unfortunately there is no space for "how to" headlines or anything cute or catchy. About all you can do is mention the keyword with one or two action words surrounding it.

Line 2: Clear Benefit and Command

Eczema Cured in 2 Days!
Itching and Redness Gone. Try it

Line 3: Features and specifics

Eczema Cured in 2 Days!
Itching and Redness Gone. Try it
FREE. Permanent Results. No Drugs.

Line 4: Website Address (URL)

Always feature the URL in upper and lower case to make it stand out.
EczemaRemedyCures.com and not eczemaremedycures.com

Eczema Cured in 2 Days!
Itching and Redness Gone. Try it
FREE. Permanent Results. No Drugs.
EczemaRemedyCures.com

Has Google Page Rank killed off SEO?

Has Google Page Rank killed of traditional SEO? Search engine optimization has traditionally been the classical way of making your website attractive to search engine spiders, and without good SEO, there was a time when your site had no chance of being highly listed in Google indices, or the index databases of any search engine for that matter.

However, I keep reading on forums and discussion boards that Page Rank is now more important, or at least the number of links back to your website from others. I personally believe this to be only partially true. That is my opinion after results I have received from my own websites, and tests I have carried out.

What Is Page Rank

First, a short résumé on what page rank is. Google has a formula based upon links to and from other web pages, both internally between page sin your own website, and externally, between your web pages and those of other websites. The more links back from other web pages to a page on your own website, the higher page you get. The more links away from pages on your website to other web pages, the lower page rank that page gets. It is therefore a balancing act.

The reason for this is that Google decided that the more web pages linking to yours, then the more relevant your page must be to the search term (keyword) concerned. Your page must be important for other pages to be linked to it. This is fine as far as that definition goes, but once webmasters understood this, they began to link with each other until, we have a situation today whereby these links are automatically created by means of software, and the content of the linked pages is irrelevant.

However, until Google tackles this problem, right now the Google formula applies irrespective of the relevance of each linking web page. More detailed information is available on the internet, including the links I provide at the end of this article if you need more information on what Page Rank really is.

Is SEO Important?

Some web pages can get listed on Google and other search engines with very little content, and only a large number of links. I have seen examples, and many forum postings on this, but whenever I investigate these sites they appear to be listed only for fairly obscure keywords that are not popularly used.

My opinion is that on-site SEO is very important, but when sites are equally optimized, then the links from other sites become relevant. There is probably a part of the search engine algorithm that includes an element of back-link density in the primary calculation, but I do not believe that onsite SEO is less important than link density.

My reasons for this belief are the results that I can get with my websites/pages with maximum onsite search engine optimization as far as I know how to do it, in relation to those web pages that I have not optimized, but added lots of links to. The optimized pages always do better that the sites with only back-links.

Page Rank Refers to Pages not Websites

Keep in mind that it is only web PAGES that Page Rank and ‘link density’ applies to, and not the whole website. Hence, if you are linked to a page on a website, the home page of which has a PR of 8, this figure ‘8’ is irrelevant to your share of the PR of the page you are linked to. Most pages have a PR of ZERO, and that is the benefit you get. Zero!

Therefore, when linking to other websites, check out the Page Rank of the page on which your link appears. That is the ranking of you receive a share. Not the home page of the site. Some webmasters will try to con you and state that “because you are linking to high PR website, the link you provide should be on your Home Page”. That is because a Home Page is normally ranked higher because it is the page that most people optimize as much as they can. It is normally the Home Page that is first listed in Google and Yahoo, and is listed the highest.

This is proof to me that SEO is not dead, and that Page Rank and links to and from other web pages is a ploy used by many who have poor content on their website. I know that good search engine optimization wins every time and that links can make the difference between sites with similar SEO and relevance to the search term used by the search engine user.

So, has Google Page Rank killed off SEO: absolutely not, and good search engine optimization on your web pages will provide you with a higher listing that if you relied purely on links. My reason for this belief is my own experience in getting rapid high listings in the major search engines when my website is correctly designed and optimized.

Google vs. Yahoo & MSN Live and the Power of Validation

If you have read the recent July Headlines you will see captions like-

* Microsoft Ambushes Google with Live Search Club, Search Share Surges
* Yahoo! squares up to Google in paid-search game

With the Big Three battling it out for the prize of % of market share one thing is not mentioned in this equation.

How much does it cost to create “Value to Market” and increase your Validation as a search engine returning quality results?

As with any industry with a high degree of growth, Search Engine visibility is still the master of profits for companies on the first page of Google. The difference in sales from Google rankings compared to Yahoo or MSN are not even comparable when you talk to medium companies who rely on Search Engines for their revenues.

I have really never met a company who said their business has been better influenced by Yahoo or MSN over Google.

Why does Google Dominate Search Revenues?

The answer is Validation.

val'i·da'tion
1. the act of validating; finding or testing the truth of something
2. the cognitive process of establishing a valid proof

No other search engine has the best validation for anyone looking for information, products or services. Yahoo and MSN have too many ads and pushed advertising for them to carry the same validation from searchers. MSN Live is late and I feel like I am in some gloomy little place whenever I go there. There are no companies I have talked with that claim Live is a savior yet. Yahoo has the best social environment but you won’t make money like you will with Google.

That is the single most powerful reason companies prefer Google 100 to none. Most companies measure success through revenues and that is the main difference here with Google. The SEO Agency has been providing Local Search to clients whose revenues come completely from Google and in situations where the Yahoo and Live traffic just don’t convert like Google traffic.

Yahoo dominates social activity naturally and their Yahoo store can be profitable but nowhere near the influence of Google for growing your online business and online brand exposure.

The numbers don’t even make sense, even if Yahoo and MSN had equal search traffic or greater market share of searches similar to Google's, roughly 60%, they would still be beat by a better conversion ratio from Google Searchers.

It comes back to Validation and the essence of the Google Search Engine focus. By design or chance they have created the single most influential tool used to connect business, services and ideas to people searching for them. I do see industry and Interest search being more open to competition but that is unknown in 2007.

Big search engines will have to match the Validation of Google to compete even with a closer market share of search users. What is the price of validation? Only time will tell.

Top 12 Tips To Writing Effective Google AdWords Ads

Top 12 Tips To Writing Effective Google AdWords Ads

Last Update: Friday, December 01, 2006.

In this article I show you my top twelve tips for creating effective Google AdWords ads.

I've been testing the Google pay per click advertising system for a while, with much success. These tips will help you create ads that generate higher click through rates, and lower cost per click.

1. Target The Right Audience

Target the right audience by selecting the language and countries that you want to target. For example, I exclude all countries where English is not understood by a large percentage of the population.

2. Refine Your Keywords

Use square brackets "[...]" around your keyword/s.

For example:

[google]
[google adwords]

Your ad will only show when the search is for the exact keyword phrase you have included within the brackets.

The ad will not show for searches that include other keywords. In our example, this would be for searches such as "google search," or "google news."

3. Test Multiple Ads Simultaneously

Always test 2 (or more) ads simultaneously. This is what is known in the print industry as an A/B split test.

Find out which one produces the higher click through ratio. Then replace the weaker performing ad with a new one.

Continue this process in your never-ending quest to get the highest click through ratio possible.

4. Track The Return-On-Investment Of Each Ad

Google tracks the click through ratio of each ad. But it doesn't track the conversion ratio.

Use a special tracking link in each ad to track its conversion ratio. For example, you could attach each ad with an affiliate tracking system link. Make sure each ad produces a return-on-investment.

5. Include Targeted Keywords In Your Ad

Include the targeted keywords in the headline and the description of the ad. Google will highlight searched keywords in bold in the ad.

When people scan search results, they look for the keywords they have entered. Searched keywords highlighted in bold certainly help to catch the user's attention. For this reason, ads with searched keywords usually perform better than ones without.

6. Sell The Benefits

Spell out one or more major benefit in your ad. For example, make more money, stay younger looking, lose weight, get healthier, live happier, etc.

7. Include Attention Grabbing Words In Your Ad

Start your headline with an attention grabbing word. For example, "Free:, New:, Sale:, etc." Make sure you stay within Google's editorial guidelines.

8. Use Words That Provoke Emotion & Enthusiasm

Use power words or call-to-action phrases that provoke emotion, enthusiasm and a response.

Here are some examples of power words:

free, cheap, sale, special offer, time limited offer, tricks, you, tips, enhance, discover, fact, learn, at last, free shipping, etc.

Here are some examples of call-to-action phrases:

* Buy Today - Save 50%
* Download Free Trial Now
* Sale Ends Tomorrow

Make sure the phrase specific to your business, otherwise Google may reject the phrase.

9. Sell Your USP (Unique Selling Proposition)

What makes your product or service better, or different, from the competition? Spell them out in your ad.

For example, one of Amazon.com's first taglines was "Earth's Biggest Bookstore." That's a powerful USP!

10. Link To Relevant Landing Pages

If an ad is for a specific product or service, create a landing page for the ad. Include relevant and useful information to convert the customer. Generally, a well designed landing page will almost always convert more visitors than if you simply sent the visitor to the home page.

11. Remove Common Words

Remove common words, such as "a, an, in, on, it, of, etc." Remove every word that does not absolutely need to be in the ad. Make every word count.

12. Deter Freebie Hunters

Deter freebie hunters by including the price of the product or service at the end of the ad. This will improve your overall conversion ratio and lower your average customer acquisition cost.

This may reduce your click through ratio, but that's OK. After all, you're not trying to target every body, only potential customers. In most cases, freebie hunters will never become paying customers.

Conclusion

Remember that advertising is a never-ending series of tests. Always track your ads. Never stop testing different keywords and ads to improve your conversion ratio and lower your customer acquisition cost.

Advertising in the Google AdWords advertising system works. It may not necessarily produce as many visitors as Overture, but the click through cost is usually lower.

Master the art of advertising in Google, and you could outsmart the competitor who's always outbidding you in Overture. ;o)

What Are The Best Google AdSense Alternatives?

Google AdSense has been revolutionary in terms of providing a way for webmasters to earn revenue from their web sites, particularly for smaller businesses. But are there any good alternatives to Google AdSense?

It is not usually a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket, so you should identify several alternatives. By doing this you may even discover an alternative that is more lucrative for your site, and at the very least you will be prepared in case something happens to AdSense.

Let’s look at some of the best alternatives to Google AdSense advertisements on your web site.

Chitika

Instead of displaying the same old advertising units with text and image ads, Chitika provide active boxes that show targeted products from various manufacturers. Chitika boxes can even show an ad box containing a product alongside several competitors’ products.

Yahoo! Publisher Network

At the time of writing this Yahoo! Publisher Network is still in Beta mode but once it is fully released it should be a viable alternative to Google AdSense. As with AdSense you can provide your web visitors with contextual ads. Yahoo conveniently offers four ways to receive payment including PayPal. That will be welcomed by many international webmasters who grow old while waiting for US checks to arrive and then get cleared through their banks.

Sell Advertising Spots

This is a traditional alternative, but it is still a good one. If you have a strong customer base you should be able to find advertisers to purchase advertising spots on your web site. You can sell spots by the month and offer a discounted option for six and twelve months.

Write Affiliate Advertisements

If you don’t want to spend time trying to attract traditional advertisers you can make your own ads for affiliate products. Check out the thousands of products at ClickBank or Commission Junction. Select several products that closely match your visitors’ interests. Now write affiliate ads, or use image ads with your own affiliate link.

CBprosense

If you don’t want to manually write your own affiliate ads for ClickBank products then you could consider automating the process with CBprosense. It is a tool that will spider your site, analyze its content and then deliver a list of relevant links to the best performing products in the ClickBank marketplace.

These are five of the best alternatives to Google AdSense advertising. There are many more and several that promise to deliver contextual ads. However I suggest that whenever you are considering an alternative that promises contextual ads, do a quick check through your favorite search engine or webmaster forum to see if anyone is actually making any revenue by using their service. It is one thing to promise the technology, and another altogether to have sufficient advertisers to constantly deliver appropriate ads to your site.

Google Adsense - Ads That Make You Money!

Imagine... being paid checks by the largest and most popular search engine, simply for displaying a few ads on your website for FREE?

Well, this is exactly what the Google Adsense program is all about! And when you think about it, it's a revolutionary way of earning yourself a useful online side income. But let's back up a bit...

In the past, many webmasters displayed ads from various companies, via pop-ups, banners, pop-ins and pop-unders. However, visitors to these sites soon got tired of these advertising methods - I mean, who'd like to go to a website where they'd have to close pop-up windows every other minute? This resulted in a dramatic loss of traffic, and in turn made many webmasters to lose profits.

That's when Google announced a novel program – Google Adsense. Instead of having to use banners and pop-ups to advertise companies and gain a commission, website publishers could now earn a decent profit by displaying unobtrusive text ads on the content pages of their website. Since the ads displayed were often directly related to what your visitors are looking for on your site, you had a way to both monetize and subtly enhance your web content.

One of the main reasons for its popularity, is the fact that the Google Adsense program is incredibly accurate. By stepping beyond the boundaries of simple keyword matching, it has quickly become one of the most prominent tools to display accurate advertisements. A list of keywords is still used as the basis of triggering ads, but complex algorithms now ensure that non-relevant ads no longer show up on your site.

Google Adsense also gives you the option to be selective about the type of ads you wish to display. This helps you direct your visitors towards certain type of products and avoid non-relevant or competitor ads. To make it possible for everyone to integrate Adsense into their sites, the program offers a wide variety of settings that allow you to alter the ads' size and appearance.

Google offers their Adsense program to just about all website owners. After signing up for the program, you'll receive an HTML/ XML code to paste on all of your web pages. Then, Google will dynamically generate ads that are relevant to your web content. Whenever a visitor clicks on one of the Adsense ads on your site, Google credits your account with a percentage of money that was paid by the advertiser for that ad.

To sign up for this terrific program, hop over to http://www.google.com/adsense It's super easy to set up - just a few clicks of your mouse and you're ready to go! Once you start displaying targeted Google Adsense ads on your website, you can expect to generate a sizable income depending on the traffic flow to your site and how many visitors actually click on the ads.

Adsense Tips That Double Affiliate Earnings

Most of us would love to double our Adsense earnings. It doesn’t take long to learn that Google uses a sliding scale, so a $10 keyword that promised to pay $1 to the affiliate only pays $.05.

Many affiliate marketers, especially work at home professionals, assume that affiliate marketing is a scam and quit. Unfortunately, affiliate marketing through Google or Yahoo is not a scam. It is the marketer’s ignorance that is costing them money.

No matter what type of internet business a person operates, most will include affiliate marketing to a greater or lesser degree. Many businesses consider affiliate income as passive income, but they remain frustrated by the lack of success.

How Earnings are Calculated

Many factors are involved when calculating the affiliate’s earnings. Page rank, hits, inbound links, and Page Rank are all important. However, the search engines also track how many people click and compare it to how many people remain at the site for more than 30 seconds.

Ad Appearance

The effectiveness of an ad depends on its appearance. Adds that mimic a link bar on a webpage will do better than ones that appear to be advertisements.

This is why Google allows web publishers a wide variety of layouts and color combinations.

Many affiliate marketers tell small business owners to post three, four, or even five bars of Affiliate links. This rarely works. Instead, it can make the visitor feel like they’ve hit a MFA (Made For AdSense) spam site. In most cases, visitors just leave.

Content

You’ve all heard it – Content is King. Many people mistake this to mean that content attracts search engines – not true.
Content, and meta tags, determine what ads appear on a site. A web page that is not doing well can be improved, dramatically, by altering the keywords to attract sites which have good products to sell at an affordable price.

The keywords in an article rarely effects search engine rank in today’s SEO world. However, they are 100% effective in controlling the ads that appear on a web page.

Know the Ads

NEVER click an ad on your website. However, you can read the URL and go visit the site. What are they selling? Is it a good product? Do you know how to write an article that can ‘pre sell’ the product? Can your article ad value to the product? All of these questions will play a vital roll in the difference between the number of the ‘click through’ from your site and the number of ‘decisions to buy.’

There is nothing wrong with manipulating the ads that appear on your web page. If too many of those ads lead to ‘Hard Sell’ pages then change the keywords and topic of the page to attract something more ‘user friendly.’

AdSense Analytics

All business owners need to familiarize themselves with web analytics. AdSense has its own analytics program. Keep an eye on the pages, which ones work, which ones don’t, and which ads pay best. When you target an ad that earns a high affiliate payout then create more pages that attract that ad.

It is easy to track hits and traffic by creating ‘channels’ in the AdSense program.

Reversed AdSense

Don’t forget to improve your PPC campaigns success by using this advice in reverse. One thing that many small businesses often overlook in their Pay Per Click programs is the websites where their ads appear. If the ad appears on too many Made For AdSense pages, or the Return On Investment is low. Take a look at the sites where you want the ads to appear.

Use your browser’s ‘view’ button and look at the page’s ‘source code.’ The meta information may give a few insights to how the ads are placed. Sometimes a PPC campaigns success can be increased simply by changing one keyword, or a single word in the ad.

Adsense And Adwords Are Two Different Sides Of The Same Coin

Adwords are simply the keywords that visitors put into Google to search for information on that keyword or phrase. Your pay-for-click ad on the right side of the page that appears is called an Adword, because your ad appears when the visitor searches for information on that keyword.

When the visitor clicks on your ad, you pay Google (adword). If, when your visitor arrives on your site, they click on any ads you have on your site, you get paid by Google under a pay-for-click program called Google Adsense.

LOCATION OF YOUR AD

The best location for your ads on your own site would be the top right side. This is because the visitors' eyes tend first to look up and right, so you want the most important information in that location.

RESEARCHING KEYWORDS

The real goal is to obtain the maximum click conversion and not only the optimization search engine ranking. This is not only about high ranking to get visitors to click on your ad, but it is about your visitors later clicking on your ads that appear on your site. Therefore, you must chose keywords that relate the best to clicking on your ads and not just a high ranking. The highest paying keywords do not automatically guarantee you will make the most profit. You must test this and track the results.

IMPORTANT POINTS ON CONTENT

Your purpose of having your visitors click on your ads is always the primary purpose. The content in your article must be sufficiently relevant that it puts the visitor in an emotional state of mind of being inquisitive or in a buying frame of mind.

TYPE AND FORMAT OF YOUR AD

All ads on your website must match and conform to the general broad design, color, image and level of quality of your site. They must harmonize, yet they can still attract attention by "standing out".

BE CERTAIN TO AVOID THIS

When you have ads placed on your site and you get paid for visitors clicking on them, you must strictly adhere to the Google policy and general common sense to never have family and friends click on those ads just so you can get paid. This is the fastest way to have Google terminate you and likely never to able to deal with Google again. Google is watching for this, as it would destroy this valuable advertising concept for everyone. The pay-for-click is a fantastically effective method of getting your word out to visitors who are searching for your information.

These basic guidelines and rules will help your journey to use Adwords and Adsense to build traffic and profits in your chosen niche.

What’s In A Domain Name?

Branding your business on the Internet starts with your domain name. Buying the right domain name is an important part of your planning process. Even if you don't plan on using the domain name right away you should purchase it anyway before someone snatches it. You can buy a domain for under $10 so it is one of the least expensive investments you will make. To put it in numbers, there are about 70 million .com, and about 10 million .net registered domains in the world.

Don't think that all the good domain names are gone. There are more great domain names available to you than you will ever need. Even though there are about 100 million top-level domain names registered already, there are many more to choose from. Don’t believe it for a minute that you won’t be able to find a domain name that will work for your business. A little bit of research and creativity will go a long way in your efforts to the find the right domain name for your company.

The name registration is a simple process. There are many domain registrars you can choose from. Some of the larger registrars are godaddy.com, enom.com, and networksolutions.com. All registrars have simple a registration process; a few clicks and you are done. The interface is user friendly, and you could register your domain name in less than ten minutes.

Registering a domain doesn’t mean you own it permanently. Think of it as a car lease without getting stiffed with expensive lease termination fees. You have the right to use it, but you don’t own it indefinitely. You are simply registering it for your business or personal use for a certain duration. You can register your domain for one year or multiple years. It is best to register business domains for multiple years. For additional protection, select auto renew as an option. Auto renew ensures that your domain is renewed even if you forget about it. You’ve probably heard horror stories about companies letting their domain names expire. If it happens to you, it could have devastating effects. In the worst case, you may be forced to go out of business. If your domain name becomes part of your brand, losing it could mean losing your business.

Once the registration expires you have to either extend your registration or let it expire, so someone else can grab it. If you are forgetful, you may want to select the auto renew option, so you don’t let your domain name expire against your wishes. Don’t think nobody will want you domain name, there is an entire market that is dedicated to profiting from expired domain names. Don’t fall victim; take your domain name registration seriously.

All of the larger registrars are reputable companies, and you should have no difficulties registering your domain with them. A word of advice, watch out for the up sell. Most registrars make most of their money through the up sell such as providing hosting services, e-mail solutions, shopping cart software. I don’t recommend hosting your Web site with the registrars. Register your domain with them, but don’t fall for the up sell. Let the registrars do what they are the best at, registering domain names.

Choosing Domain Names – Hyphens or Not?

Choosing a good domain name is one of most important steps in setting up your online business, but it’s getting harder and harder to find good names that are still available. You could use a domain name with hyphens, but is that really a good idea?

Let’s quickly review what makes a good domain name. A domain name needs to be relevant, easy to remember, keyword optimized, and free from trademark conflicts. It should also be shorter. Although seven characters or less is ideal, you may have to settle for a domain name that’s a little longer.

So you’ve just set up your new barbecue grills business and now you discover that barbecuegrills.com is already taken. Should you consider hyphenating the domain name to barbecue-grills.com or should you go back to the drawing board?

The first choice should always be to take the name without a hyphen. Having established that, there are some exceptions. Let’s look at hyphenated domain names and when they are might be good to use.

Domains with hyphens can sometimes be a good idea if you really want certain words in your domain name but all the domains without hyphens are already taken.

Another reason to use a hyphen is when the words you plan to use are harder to read without the hyphen. The domain hotellamps.com is harder to read than hotel-lamps.com. That is not necessarily a great domain name but it does serve to illustrate the point that some domains are easier to read with a hyphen.

You might also consider using hyphens for search engine optimization. Some people suggest that using hyphens helps the search engines to distinguish your keywords better. This may be a good option for webmasters whose primary goal is to optimize their sites for traffic from natural search engine rankings. The only catch here is that this could change over time since search engines are constantly adjusting their search algorithms.

Incidentally, if you decide not to use hyphens in your domain name, watch out for any unintended double meanings that might be embarrassing. To illustrate this point a couple of fairly suspicious domain names are therapistfinder.com and molestationnursery.com. In case you are wondering the latter was reportedly the domain for the Mole Station Native Nursery based in New South Wales, Australia, although it seems, fortunately, to have moved.

Whatever reason you have for using a hyphen in your domain name, it would be good to remember one thing. Some people will forget the hyphen when they type your domain name. So whenever you invest in promoting your site, some lucky webmaster who owns the un-hyphenated version of your domain is going to get some free traffic, courtesy of your hard work.

As you can see, there are some situations when using a hyphen in your domain name may be a good decision.

Scam Alert II: Domain Hijacking

There's a frightening new batch of scams going around now that can damage your reputation as domain "squatters" steal your domain name.

There are a number of ways the "game" is played. The first is entirely legal, if more than a little questionable. In this version, the name of a city or geographic area is grabbed by a domain squatter and pointed to... "sites that you wouldn't want your children visiting."

(We chose that term to avoid getting caught in a lot of spam filters for the use of the word "p-o-rn.")

A prominent notice is placed on the sites, offering them for sale at prices that range from $2500 to as much as $500,000!

The idea here is that city officials will feel that enough damage is being done to the reputations of their towns that they'll pay to keep them from being associated with that type of material.

It's obviously safe to say that it's not appropriate to pop those kinds of images into people's faces while they're looking for info on a completely different topic.

That's where the pressure on the cities comes from, and why this is such a disgusting scheme.

In essence, the domain squatter says: "Pay us, or continue to watch as your city's reputation suffers."

Many would call this blackmail...

~~~
The second variation on the theme is not always legal. When someone takes a trademarked name (or variation of the spelling of one) or a famous person's name, and does the same thing.
For trademarks or close variations, there's a specific procedure for addressing the problem. (See the resource section at the end of this issue.)
For the names of famous people, there MAY be a remedy. But, it can be tricky -- and expensive.
For example, if someone named John Jones registered http://WalterCronkite.com and pointed it to one of "those" sites, Walter Cronkite could probably force the domain away from him.
However, if someone named Steve Cronkite registered http://Cronkite.com and did the same thing, Walter Cronkite would have no recourse. It would be very hard to demonstrate that Steve registered the domain in bad faith. And if Steve's son's name is Walter, the same is true for http://WalterCronkite.com.
If you feel that your name is likely to be typed into a browser when people are looking for information on you, you should consider getting both the .com and .net versions of the domain if they're available.
It will cost you a few bucks to prevent the problem. Fixing it, assuming you win, will cost you hundreds -- if not thousands -- of dollars.
And there's no guarantee you'll win.
~~~

A third version is a bit more benign. It's common among members of affiliate programs.

In this version names very close to, or even including, the trademark are registered. The sites are created to drive traffic to the affiliates' URL at the main site.

This may or may not be acceptable to the affiliate program owner. If it is, it's a good technique for getting traffic. If not, it could get you into hot water. Check with the owner of the trademark before doing this.

Less benign is an alternative version of this technique where someone grabs domain names that are close to the trademark of a competitor and uses them to grab competitor type-in traffic. This is often done by finding out the most common misspellings of the real domain name or trademark.

Watch for people doing this with your domain.

~~~
Here's the worst version of this -- and it can hit anyone if they have enough traffic and don't pay close attention to when their domain registrations expire.
In this situation, someone grabs expired domain names and points them to "those" kinds of sites. This is a "no lose" for the hijacker, as they will profit from the traffic even if the previous owner doesn't pay the requested ransom for the domain.
The more traffic the URL gets, the greater the clickthrough value to the hijacker. This means more potential damage to the original owner -- and a higher ransom to get it back.
In effect, your own popularity is your worst enemy in this case.
The solution to this one is simple -- and very important: Don't let your domain names expire!
Useful Resources:
If you find yourself a victim of domain hijacking, there is hope for correcting the problem.
For a more formal explanation of the legal aspects of this problem, visit
http://www.llrx.com/congress/100200.htm
For specific information on the UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy), the procedure for taking domain names that are being used in violation of a trademark, see
http://wipo2.wipo.int/process1/index.html
For information on taking action under the Anti-Cybersquatting Act (A US law that provides for damages in addition to the less severe penalties of the UDRP) see
http://www.domain-name.org/cybersquatact.htm
If you have a famous name or trademark, the best defense is to make sure that you register the main variations in both the .com and .net form. The .org is probably only necessary if you are heavily involved with charitable activities.
Protect yourself. Scammers come up with new schemes all the time...
So, keep your eyes open.
Scam Alert: Some Companies Are Charging Up To $2,000 Just To Register A Domain Name!
I didn't believe this either, but... I've gotten a number of letters from companies who say they will "only" charge $1,000 to register our domain name! Unfortunately, some innocent people have accepted this ridiculous offer.
Clearly, this is a complete rip-off. And we've received even more offers to register domain names for "just" $300!
OK. So what should it cost to register a domain name? The short answer is that it should cost you between $15 and $75 (plus a fee to InterNIC - see below). Anything more is a rip-off.
Here's why: There are two types of fees to register a domain name:
A fee to InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center -- the group in charge of assigning domain names) and
A fee to the company doing the domain name registration for you.
1. InterNIC is in charge of registering domain names. Until September of this year (1995), there was no charge from InterNIC to register domain names. Therefore, if you knew how to fill out the appropriate form and submit it to InterNIC, you could register a domain name for free.
Prior to the registration fees from InterNIC, some people registered huge numbers of domain names. For example, there were individuals who tried to register the names of as many major corporations as they could, so they could later sell these domain names to these companies (when the companies realized that "their" domain names were not available).
On September 14, 1995, InterNIC announced that the fee for all new domain name registrations would be $100, which would include two years of registration. So, all new domain name registrations now cost a minimum of $100, the fee to InterNIC. (Update: The fee for Web Addresses registered on or after April 1, 1998, is US$70.00. New registrations are in effect for a two-year period.)
The fee for annual renewals (for both new and existing domains) is $50. Therefore, all domain names that were registered prior to September 14, 1995 (when the $100 registration fee was initiated) will owe an annual renewal fee of $50 on the anniversary of their initial registration. (Update: All domain names re-registered on or after April 1, 1998, are assessed a US$35.00 re-registration fee.)
On the Web: For more information, the Web address for InterNIC Registration Services is http://rs.internic.net/rs-internic.html. (Update: Network Solutions now handles the registration services: http://www.networksolutions.com/ )
2. Many people hire their ISP (Internet Service Provider) or a consultant to register their domain names for them.
The process of registering a domain name almost always involves these five steps:
Selecting a domain name to register
Finding out if this domain name is currently available
Selecting an ISP who will host the domain
Filling out the appropriate form to request the domain name (done by you or the ISP)
Submitting this form to InterNIC (done by the ISP).
A Useful Tip: It is now possible to use the Web to find out whether or not the domain name you'd like to register is available using WhoIs. This is a LOT more convenient than alternative ways to find out whether or not a domain name is available. But remember, the name may be assigned to someone else between when your application is submitted and when it is reviewed by InterNIC.
On the Web: Look at example information along with the instructions that are included as part of the Domain Name Registration Agreement to request a new domain name. Filling out and submitting the form is not difficult (however, it does require knowing what you're doing).
A reasonable fee to pay to have your ISP (or a consultant) fill out and submit this form for you is between $15 and $75. Our ISP charges us $30 and does an excellent job. Paying much more for this is unnecessary.
This means that you will pay a total of $115 to $175 (including the $100 to InterNIC) to register your domain name. (at the time of original publication)
Note: This scam is about consultants who charge $2000 for ONLY registering a domain name. If your ISP starts talking about fees of $2000, they are probably giving you more domain services than you need. (The service most of you will want from your ISP is sometimes called a "domain alias," and can be implemented for the prices we mentioned.)
Tip: Don't worry if you're not the technical or administrative contact (Questions 4 and 5 on the form) -- that's OK. Just be sure that Questions 3a to 3f are filled in with your company's name and info. That way, you'll own the domain name, not your ISP or consultant.
How to build a search-engine friendly website
A lot of hype is going around about search engine optimization and not all that has been said is true. What is true is that seo starts with creating a search engine friendly website. This means the website must be free of errors and constructed in a way that search engines like. There is a lot that a web-designer needs to know, the basics and some tricks are covered in this article.
The construct
Building a website starts with building the construct or also called the prototype. This prototype is a well constructed site architecture with a professional design and a good link structure. The prototype is the construct in which you embed the content. When designing a prototype you need to keep various marketing aspects in mind. What colour to choose, what kind of pictures, the text-size and what about the background?
As you can see, there are various things that you need to decide. Below is a list of things that will help you to achieve better rankings in search engines.
- use cascading stylesheets to separate the design from the content.
- use div tags rather than tables because tables make your file size big.
- make sure the h1 tag is located at the top of your source code.
- use h1 and h2 tags and integrate your keywords in it.
- use image alt tags with your keywords
- use meta-tags in your header
- outsource your javascript code
These are things that will, if done properly, increase your searchengine rankings. Of course you need to use your keywords throughout the text on your website, but do not care much about keyword density in your body text.
Once you have designed your prototype, you need to run a validator to see if you have any errors in your code. You can find these free html validators by doing a search on google. Make sure your html source code is W3C valid! Once your prototype is ready, you can copy and paste your content into it and save each website under a keyword relevant name.
There are several tools out there that can help you to create searchengine friendly websites. This starts with finding the best keywords and ends with validation of your source code. The best program for these and more issues is definitely the Internet Business Promoter. I use this program every day to find niche keywords, to optimize my websites for better rankings and to automatically and semi-automatically promote my websites.
You can get the Internet Business Promoter here: http://www.leads-traffic.com/products/ibp.htm
Promote Online business
In order to promote their business, many people choose using link exchanges. This is a strategy that does not cost the business owners a single thing, thus it is a very good idea to start promoting your products and services by using such a method. All that is free is also popular, as many of you might say! But this is not entirely a simple thing, as most people have no clue regarding what they are getting themselves involved in. They are not aware of the significance of the whole matter until their website traffic and search engine rankings start growing. But on the whole, the result of all this is worth the time and work that you have put in to build the links.
The starting point of my work was spending many hours searching the web for websites to link with. The numerous tools, services and directories available today were not there to help me out. But now there are many incoming emails that are asking me for links. I have given up looking for links a long time ago. The main thing you must acknowledge is that links will come looking for you, once you get established. So take the chance and get started today!
Now, my goal has been and will be to help other webmasters, to better understand and optimize their link exchanges. I cannot claim that I discovered link exchanges or even perfected the technique, but it is a working one and that's it!
You must be wondering what the main reasons to link building are. Well, traffic, search engine rankings, link popularity and promotions are what drive most people in this business.
Link exchanges have a special side of linking, most people do not ever mention and that is what they call the personal side of link exchanges. It has got me to meeting a lot of great webmasters and also reviewing a number of resources such as books, software and services. Link exchanges have allowed me to learn a lot about the Internet and website promotional issues.
Besides linking to a website, when you create a link exchange, you are linking to a person, that is the webmaster. This is the reason why cold, impersonal, automated link exchange requests usually go unanswered. Link exchanging is something that has to be done in person, by email or by phone. In order to do that, all my link partners names and emails are very important to me.
Does your small business need a website?
The following is a checklist of questions to answer before you can think of going online with your business -
• What kind of a small business is it? If it is about selling a product, then can the product be sold online? When ordered for, can it be transported to any part of the globe?
• In case of a service-oriented business, will the website be able to provide information pertaining to the service or industry? Buyers like to purchase from the net only after they are thoroughly informed. Therefore, web sites must be designed to inform the customers about the services that the small businesses offer.
• How can the web site be used to cut costs? Will the web site reduce costs of manufacturing, distribution etc? Also, will it be easier to communicate with distant vendors, clients and workforce?
• How can the small business develop better relations with clients using their website? Small business can adapt several methods such as provide guidance, up to date information on products or services, feedback forms etc. on the web site.
• How does the small business intend to reach out to its potential customers using its website? As the Internet is full of customers who know what they want and are looking to buy, it is important to have a solid marketing plan so that the business can successfully sell its products and services.
Once the business decides to have a website, it is necessary to include the web site in collateral material and also submit to search engines, as nobody would visit it unless they know it exists. The small business should also try to get listed in directories and place banner ads.
What do small business owners feel about having a web site?
The Internet has not only been useful for running small businesses but also has also helped them to succeed. In a survey carried out by Lewis, Mobilio & Associates for Homestead Technologies, Inc. in 2002, out of 970 small businesses owners in the US, 57% agree that having a website is a key to the success to their business. About 75% of the respondents believed that they couldn’t do without a web site, while 61% wanted to have a web site for their business. 86% would recommend other small business owners to build their own site.
In another survey conducted by Verizon SuperPages.com's Third Annual Small Business Internet Survey in 2001, about 50% of small business owners having a web site communicate regularly with customers through e-mail. Another growing use of web sites by small businesses is for advertising and communications. The study discovered that 35% of small businesses with a use it to advertise or offer company data in comparison to 8% who sell their products and services through the web site. Also, 56% of business owners believe that the web site has a complete return on investment.
How To Get Quality Links To Increase Your Website Traffic
How To Build Your List, Get Quality Links and Increase Your Website Ranking
Easily
As you already know getting traffic is one or the most difficult task
you can encounter as an Internet marketer. Traffic has to be
targeted in order to provide building an opt-in list of future
customers that will generate the profits that you will need for growing
your business.
Pay-per Click (PPC) Campaigns
While There are several ways to get that traffic the most effective and
fast way to do this is Pay-per-Click advertising, this is a
method that can be used for building your opt-in list real fast. Google
Ad Words and Overture are probably the best known of the PPC services.
This form of advertisement is not recommended for everyone.
Sometimes it can be very time consuming and very, very expensive.
Blogs and Forums
Blogs and Forums are quickly becoming one of the most popular and
easiest ways for anyone to publish content to the web and get free
traffic. Blogs have become quite the hot topic over the last
year. They allow users to easily create their own websites,
without knowing any html coding. The search engines love them since
blogs are indexed by the search engines quickly better than regular
websites. You can link your website to the blog and get the free
traffic. While this method is not fully guaranteed it has
results. You will need lots of good content to keep the
traffic coming to your website and to your blog. But the catch is that
it will require more than one blog to get it accomplished and can
become time consuming.
When posting to forums you'll need a lot of time in your hands. Forum
wrangling is tedious and time consuming also. You will need to find
forums that have good topics in which you will post and
discuss with other participants. Both methods required that you post
often to keep attracting your subscribers to come back and refer you to
others in their networks; include links to other forums, blogs,
articles and websites in your posts. These type
of traffic doesn't happen quickly, this is
something you must do continuously every day to build up.
Article Writing
Article writing is another way of getting free traffic. Is
probably the favorite way of many marketers in generating
traffic for their website. Simply by writing and submitting the
articles to article directories. The more articles you write
and submit to directories the more traffic and back links you will
build for your website. While article submission isn't anything
astonishing new to the world of Search Engine Optimization, many people
still don't do it... and for good reason. It's time consuming and takes
so incredibly long time to do this manually.
Article Submissions
There are software programs that will submit your articles to hundreds
of directories with a few keystrokes. One such program is Article
Submitter. The software cost nothing at the time of this writing. With
the software you can quickly and easily submit your website to hundreds
of article directories with a few mouse clicks. This free software can
help get the targeted traffic that you need, plus will help get your
website listed on the top search engine rankings in all the major
search engines quickly. Visit this blog and read the blog
post "How To Get Free Targeted Traffic Using Articles" or
just click on the link: (http://blogtipsezine.wordpress.com .)
I can't think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you're going
to get links this quickly, it's important to submit different
variations of your articles, to make things look more natural to the
search engines.
Jaw dropping way to jumpstart your online business
Do you know that there is an easy way to jumpstart your online business?
Simply by using an expired domain name, you should already have an established web presence in the search engines and a regular stream of traffic. Do you know that expired domains get millions of visitors each and every day?
If you are thinking to start an online business and are planning to register a new domain to start promoting your website, you should know about this mind blowing way. It is all about using the value of using expired domain names.
Some fact you should know about expired domain name. When a domain is registered for a year. and the original domain registrant does not pay for the renewal by the end of that period, the domain will expire and will then be available to whoever would like to purchase it.
There are advantages for going with an expired domain over registering a new one. The best part about an expired domain name is that the website usually already has its own existing traffic. Often an expired domain will already have numerous back links (i.e. What are back links? They are links on other websites that point to this website). As most of the expired domains already have a Google Page Rank value and had indexed in most of the major search engines, it will be good if you can purchase an expired domain name that has back links. This will certainly helps to have a significant head start on gaining traffic to your new website.
When registering a new domain name, no one knows about your website. None of your listings are listed in the search engines. You need to spend much effort to get your website listed and constantly promote it.
On the other hand, when you purchase an expired domain name, you may not need to work as hard as most part was done for you. However, you will still have to continue to promote your website and get the appropriate backlinks.
In other words, you will be taking advantage of the work that someone else has already done to promote the website when you purchase an expired domain..
One thing you need to do here is to find out what expired domain you would like to purchase and how well the domain is doing in the search engines. You can do a quick check of the backlinks and the Page Rank. At the same time, you should check with Alexa to see what sort of traffic the site is getting.
Most of the time there are legitimate reasons for a domain expiring. It could be the original owner has lost interest in their site or didn't have the time to manage it. There are also cases that a domain name expires because the original registrant is deceased. Rarely, a domain is allowed to expire because the website has been banned by search engines. You can do a quick check by just do a Google search for the domain name and see what comes up. If you see listings you can rest assured that the domain hasn't been banned.
3 Tips to Getting Internet Traffic to Your Blog Website
Everybody has a blog. No matter the topic or discussion someone has got it covered. From online diaries in the mid nineties to becoming one of the foundations of the internet, blogging along with video and social bookmarking is changing not only how we get our information but also the manner in which online business is conducted.
This is why it would be a good idea for you incorporate blogging into your overall internet marketing plan. What blogging can do very effectively is to build your target markets and bring you a steady flow of internet traffic and customers.
Blogs are free and easy to run. Just go to Blogger or Wordpress.com, signup and start posting. Try to start out posting on a daily basis or at least a three to four times a week then use these tips to get traffic to your blog
Email Marketing List
In a recent survey, 100% of online users say they communicate using email. This is a good way to send messages to your opt in email list with links going back to your blog web site. Let them know you've posted a new article or video on your blog. Use snippets or summaries to entice people to click on the link and get further information. The more times people on your list see your blog the more they will get to know you and give a second look to some products or services you maybe offering.
In addition you can gain more viewers to your blog by giving away a subscription along with free report. Advertise in ezine publications that target your niche as well as forums and classified ad sites like US Free Ads.
Free RSS Feed
Rich Site Summary also known as Really Simple Syndication is the process of delivering constantly updated content to your blog by pacing a block of code (known as a feed) on your webpages. In our fast paced information age, RSS fits perfectly. It allows your visitors to stay up to date on any new information you've added to your blog without necessarily having to visit every page on your blog. Instead they view a window that list the headlines followed by a quick summary of what each article is about.
Having a free RSS feed accomplishes two things besides getting more site traffic. First since the content is updated frequently it keeps the search engines coming back to your site and crawling for the new information. Second it can increase your visibility among your blog visitors. This is important because while they may not visit your blog everyday, providing a feed to your subscribers is a good way to for them to stay in touch.
Network
A blog network is a compilation of blogs under a sole domain or company name. Some web visitors take comfort in clicking a link that takes them to different bloggers who cover the same topic. This is also an excellent way to get free advertisement and free web traffic to your site since people who visit the network will invariably be exposed to your blog.
You can also submit to blog directories or just ask your readers to give you feedback on something you posted (the search engines view comments as updating content on your blog). No matter which technique you choose, blogging offers a new way to connect with your readers. Simple, unfiltered and a perfect fit for today's internet, blogging is a smart resource to have in your internet marketing online tool kit.
Choosing your Hosting Platform - Linux or Windows?
As more and more people fire up web pages for their businesses or their personal enjoyment, there are continuous questions about which hosting platform is the best choice. Most experts agree that when it comes to choosing between Linux and Windows for your web server software, the final decision really depends on the preferences of the individual. Here are some of the main differences between the two, and what that might mean for your web pages.
Windows
Familiarity. Windows is the product of Microsoft, and Microsoft has proven that it is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to common usage. This has come about largely due to ingenious marketing strategies, but the end result is that the Windows operating system is the most used in the world. It stands to reason, then, that the Windows server software would have a certain amount of appeal as the functions are familiar to any computer user.
Usability. Aside from marketing, the straightforward approach of the Windows system has also contributed to its popularity. “Wizards” await to help at any turn, tool bars are click-accessible, and you can have several programs running at once and easy to recall. Because of the ease of use, Windows software is usually a better option for those new to programming.
Built in software. Windows platforms come with everything you need to fire up a web site, including email applications. Again, this software platform is much easier for the newer programmer than setting up one’s own applications.
Linux
Price. The most commonly cited pro about Linux platforms is their price. Linux is open source software, meaning that it has no intellectual property restrictions and thus skips the expense of copyright. Many would say that the Linux platform is the perfect complement to the idea of the Internet.
Reliability. Linux has proven to be reliable in almost all areas a web master might be concerned about, from security against hackers to guards against memory leaks over time.
Support options. As Linux itself is essentially free as far as intellectual property, it should come as no surprise that the platform supports some of the most popular free systems out there, including PHP and MySQL.
Most of the weaker areas in either of the web hosting platforms can be mitigated according to the hosting company a web master chooses for a site. Price, your level of expertise in computer programming, and which features you want supported on your site will ultimately be the criteria upon which your choice is made.
Criteria of Choosing an Ideal Web Hosting Company
Before we talk about what it takes to be a cheap and good quality web host, let’s get to the fundamental first. What is a Web Host?
A web host is a service provider that places your web site on a computer which is connected to the internet. The term for this ‘computer’ is called a server.
A web hosting provider will typically have a fast connection to the Internet and they may host thousands of web sites on many servers. The web host essentially rents out space to you so that you can get your website up on the world wide web.
With a well-managed web host, you can free yourself from worrying the up-keep of complicated server technology and proper technical maintenance. That’s the whole purpose of the web hosting companies. You should leave the technical work to web hosting professional while you focus on your own internet business.
Let’s begin...
Feature Offered
The features that web hosting companies are offering are getting quite standard nowadays.
The followings are some of the common features you'll see in most web hosting plans: Control Panel
Control Panel is an interface where you can access your site on the web server, allowing you to set-up and subsequently update and customize your web site. Though cPanel is by far the most popular control panel, some hosting providers customize their own so that they can up-grade and expand it at will. Diskspace
A vast majority of sites that don't have tons of graphics, sound and video clips or downloadable files easily fit in 50 MB of disk space. You should always leave yourself some room for growth or check if the host has a bigger plan in case you need to upgrade. Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the amount of data transmitted or received through a unit of time. In web hosting, bandwidth is consumed when visitors make requests for files on your web site and download them to their personal computers. Email Account
With POP3 email accounts you can check email from Outlook, Netscape Mail, Eudora or any other Email software. Scripting language
As all our top 10 listings are using Unix and Linux platform, php, perl and CGI are the languages we are talking about here. It is best to choose a host that supports the latest version to maximize the latest web technologies for the fee that you pay. Database
If your web site is going to store a lot of data that should be dynamically accessible (like user accounts, stock prices, maps, Interactive news, message boards and forum etc.), you'll need to look for an account that offers a database. MySQL is a powerful and most popular database program that runs on the Linux operation system. It is able to handle million of entries all at once. Its flexibility and speed allow you to also store logs and pictures. MySQL is designed to scale well under heavy traffic conditions and is ideal for database-intensive or e-commerce-enabled Web sites. Customer Service/Support
No matter if you are an expert or a novice in web hosting, you need a web host with good customer support system. What is the criteria of an excellent customer support? Let us explain. How big is the knowledge base?
This is particularly important for those who want to search for quick answer without seeking direct assistance from customer support staff. Due to the huge database, normally it’s searchable. Some web hosting providers will even make your life easier by making a video tutorial guiding you step by step in setting up your new account. Very useful for beginner. Responsive customer service staff.
If you are too lazy to find the answer out of a big pool of database, get the direct answer from someone who knows it. Direct customer support comes in a few forms.
a. Email support
b. Phone support: Normally, sales and technical support uses separate phone line. A good phone support staff knows what your problem is and answers with relevance.
c.Web Host like Lunarpages and Globat even have live chat support. However, it’s not how many support channels that are available but how responsive it is of the staff. You can find out the hosting reviews and ratings of each of our Top 10 Cheap Web Host.
Price to Disk Space / Price to Bandwidth Ratio
Are you paying too much for your Web Hosting Plan?
Having done the research on hundreds of web hosting companies, in general, we’ve come to this conclusion: the more disk space and bandwidth you are getting, the more expensive is the monthly price.
To help you understand which price is competitive enough for you to take up the offer, we have categorized 5 different price range. For each price range, a score of maximum of 10 is assigned. To understand the concept behind this, please refer to the details here.
Popularity
A web host might have the best feature offered, unbeatable customer support and reliability in place but without an effective marketing plan, it will go bust too. Let’s face it. If a web hosting provider does not have sufficient members and steady growth of new members, it’s very difficult to survive in this highly competitive industry.
We judge the popularity of a particular web hosting provider by looking at the number of awards won, the reviews of other websites and the Alexa traffic ranking.
All the hosting providers listed on our Top 10 Cheap Web Hosting Directory are among the top 40,000 most visited websites in the world.
Reliability, Speed and Uptime Guarantee
Nothing can hurt you more than this: your visitors come to your web site only to find that it’s not accessible. You lose credibility and possibly even a sale. If your web host does not guarantee at least a 99% uptime, leave the web host now!
To ensure maximum uptime, installation of redundant back-up systems is essential. Each web host has their own management systems to minimize downtime. "Redundant" means that if any of the Internet connections get interrupted, the alternate Internet connection will take over.
We use Alertra software to monitor the uptime of each of our top 10 web hosts.
As for speed, even though routing, web server set up and local area networks play a part in determining the speed of a site, the main concern of how fast your site is depends very much on the types of network connections.
Many hosting providers still connect to the Internet through T1, or T3 connections. This is not the case for our top 10 hosts- they are using OC (Optical Carrier) lines.
A T1 line will offer data transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps (megabits per second), while a T3 line can supply data transfer rates of 43Mbps. OC-1 refers to a circuit that transmits 51.85Mbps. Higher levels are multiples of that speed. Ultra-High Speed OC3 and OC12 lines offers 155Mbps and 622Mbps respectively. Some hosting providers have connections to major internet backbones at the speed of OC48 (2488Mbps) and OC96 (4976Mbps).
